Team Opal secured second place in the Open Level 2 NT division

(BELLEVILLE, ON, Apr. 17, 2024) – On Friday, April 12th, and Saturday, April 13th, 2024, Pegasus Cheer athletes competed at the Canadian Cheer National Championships in Niagara Falls. Two teams competed, earning the following placements:

  • Opal (All Star Elite Level 2 Non-Tumble, ages 16+) – Second Place
  • Amethyst (All Star Elite Level 2 Non-Tumble, ages 12 to 16) – Seventh Place

Held at Scotiabank Centre in Niagara Falls, the Canadian Cheer National Championships showcased over 8,000 athletes from across the country over three days and marked the final competition of the season for both teams.

“We recognize it is difficult to get back into a sport as an adult or try a new sport later in your teenage years. Everyone on this team was committed to learning, growing together, and having fun while also achieving their goals,” says Liz Yntema, coach of Opal. “All of that hard work paid off with Opal earning second place at Nationals. We could not be more proud of them.”

These teams and athletes are now preparing for their year-end showcase, Wings Up, being held at Centennial Secondary School on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. This event is open to the public, $10 per wristband, and is a great way to learn more about All Star cheerleading in the Quinte area.
